PROCLAMATION
Presented To
John Kob
WHEREAS, John Kob is a retired Marine Corp Sergeant Major and displays his servant’s heart and a can-do spirit in confronting the challenges faced by many dedicated Veterans Service Officers, and
WHEREAS, John’s heartfelt concern for the veterans of Johnson County, created an atmosphere of respect in his community, and
WHEREAS, John’s attention to detail and dedication to his role of Veterans Service Officer for American Legion Post 61 & Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6908, ensured his fellow Veterans and their families received the benefits and respect they earned through their service, and
WHEREAS, John serves as the emcee for the Johnson County Memorial Day and Veterans Day programs, and
WHEREAS, John serves as Chairman of the 4th of July parade committee, and
WHEREAS, John volunteers at Peace Mountain Veterans Retreat and the local Elementary School and Community Center working to show children they are worthy citizens, and
WHEREAS, John participates in the Johnson County Senior Center Veterans Café, and
WHEREAS, John continues to assist a family in need that recently moved from Missouri, after the husband was electrocuted on the job and John assisted in getting his VA disability increased, after a recent examination determined he has brain cancer and had two surgeries and possibly more and still in Vanderbilt Hospital, in addition he assisted in transferring his Legion membership to Post 24/Johnson City, while John also personally assisted this family in need financially after much hardship and setbacks, and
WHEREAS, John is a staunch supporter of those suffering from Post Traumatic Stress, and
WHEREAS, John continues to have a can-do pay it forward attitude.
Now, therefore, I, Todd A. McKinley, Commander of the American Legion Department of Tennessee, do hereby proclaim Saturday, April 2nd, 2026, as John Cob Day in the Department of Tennessee.
