This week's shoutout goes to everyone who ventured to Washington to take part in our annual Washington Conference.
At the end of the year, I'll do a full accounting of my time serving all of you as Department Commander, where I'll break down everything from how many average views my Commander's Chat receives, how many average reads my blog receives, how much money I've saved the department as Commander, and more . In mileage alone, I've saved the department at least $5,500.00 by not filing for mileage etc. My question is, what questions would you like to have me answer in what will be my final blog update that I'll post the night before I leave office.
Weekly Schedule
March 1st-4th: Washington Conference
March 3rd: Wreath Laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
March 3rd: Tennessee Commander's Chat.: www.facebook.com/commanderchat
Membership
In a weeks time, we've only went from 86.77% to 87.24%, giving me concern that we're not going to meet our March 11th deadline, when we need to be at 90% or greater to continue the streak of making every deadline. Please push membership and also ask the Department Adjutant Mike Giffin for the Post 2000 list. These are easy transfers into your Post that are already paid, but are sitting idle because most Post will never reach out to them.

We finished 2nd in February, once again behind Kansas and ahead of Wisconsin. Keep up the great work, together we can do anything.

Legion Family Day on the Hill (March 12th)
The first ever Legion Family Day on the Hill. will be held Thursday, March 12th in Nashville and will coincide with Be The One Day in Tennessee. We’ll meet on the 8th floor in conference room 8A of the Cordell Hull Building, as close to 8:00am as possible.

March 14th
Special Announcement: In addition to March 12th, being the first ever Legion Family Day on the Hill, it will also be designated Be The One Day in the Volunteer State as well. What I'm asking is simple, on March 12th, or the preceding or following Saturdays (dealers choice), hold some sort of Be The One related event.
As Department Commander, I'm inviting anyone around Kingsport. to come and take a walk around my local track at Ketron Elementary School. I plan to begin walking at 9:00am on Saturday, March 14th. I plan to walk alone or with whoever decides to show up. FYI. this isn't a formal event, I just plan to begin walking more and exercising in order to arrive the convention next June in far better shape than I was when I began the year. Come Be The One!
