This week's shoutout goes to everyone who's kept us consistently in the top 5 week in and week out regarding voter voice.

National Commander's Thanksgiving Message

Greetings all,

We are currently in Taiwan where it is early Thanksgiving morning.  It will soon be Thanksgiving for each of you tomorrow.  I simply wanted to take a moment and say thank you to each and every one of you for all you do for The American Legion Family.

This Thanksgiving I am thankful for you and the work you do carrying forward the mission of our organization.  Simply put, you are valued.  This week is National Family Week and family is a core value of our American Legion  Family.  Taking care of one another isn’t simply what we do, it’s who we are.

Please take a moment this Thanksgiving weekend to reach out to others to let them know that we care about them and that they are a valued member of our American Legion Family.  The holidays can be a tough time for so many of our Family members, especially those who are alone.  Let them know we appreciate and care about them.

If there is anything you need or that I can help you with, please reach out to me.  Again, thank you!  God bless each and every one of you, God bless our American Legion Family, God bless our troops, and God bless our great country!

American Legion National Commander

Weekly Schedule

December 2nd: Tennessee Commander's Chat: www.facebook.com/commanderchat

December 2nd: Be The One Training: www.facebook.com/share/14XCwQC894s/

December 5th: Post 3 Christmas Party

December 6th: Kingsport Christmas Parade

Membership

Given last week was Thanksgiving, national headquarters closed at 12-noon on November 26th, so the usual membership update that comes out on Friday wasn't sent out. However, as of November 25th, we're at 27th place and 69.19% of our year end goal. Our next deadline is December 10th where we need to be at 75%.

As of November 28th, 41 Post across the department have met the 75% goal, with 26 others being above 70%. That said, 9 Post are less than 1% of reaching the 70% mark, and will likely reach the 75% mark, which means 75 Post are likely to make the upcoming deadline, which means more than half will fall short, some way short.

Voter Voice

Thank you to everyone who had their voice heard this week.

One of the biggest issues any organization faces is the lack of training, the next issue is the lack of information flow. This year I've been working to remedy these issues and hopefully set some level of an example when it comes to keeping everyone informed and I'm trying to ensure we're a well trained department. After all a trained Legioniare is a uselful Legioniare, add to this positive and useful information, and that Legioniare becomes a positive force to be dealt with.

Help Needed

We need about 30 volunteers per day across the entire Legion Family. We also need several from across the Legion Family to step up and serve on the planning board for this wonderful event, and NO...you don't have to be a Rider to serve. I'll say that again, you don't need to be a Rider to serve on this board nor do you need to be a Rider to volunteer.
